Syntonic Refuge, LabSynthE, Holocaust Remembrance Day 2019

In February I presented LabSynthE as an open space for collaboration along with a detailed case study of our 2019 project, Syntonic Refuge at CAA’s annual convention. I wrote this piece for the Flesh&Circuit panel, chaired by Conor McGarrigle and El Putnam in Chicago. Conor and El are working on a special issue of The Journal of Performance Arts and Digital Media, so it may be revised for publication in 2020-21.

Understanding the legal status of CBD products.

It’s crucial to understand the legal distinction between hemp-derived CBD products, including gummies, and marijuana-derived products containing higher levels of THC. Hemp-derived CBD products are typically legal in many countries, including the United States, as long as they contain less than 0.3% THC. On the other hand, marijuana-derived products with higher levels of THC are subject to stricter regulations due to their psychoactive effects timesofisrael.

Federal Regulations and Variations Within Countries

Federal regulations surrounding the production, sale, and consumption of CBD products can vary within countries. In the United States, for example, while federal law allows for hemp-derived CBD products with less than 0.3% THC, individual states may have additional restrictions or requirements. It’s important for consumers to be aware of these variations and stay informed about state laws to ensure compliance when purchasing CBD gummies.

Recent Changes in Legislation

Legislation regarding cannabis-related products is constantly evolving, which can impact access to and availability of CBD gummies for consumers. For instance, some countries or states have recently passed laws that expand access to medical cannabis or legalize recreational use. These changes may lead to increased availability and acceptance of CBD gummies in certain areas.

However, it’s worth noting that not all jurisdictions have embraced these changes uniformly. Some regions may still maintain strict regulations or even consider all forms of cannabis as controlled substances. Therefore, it is essential for consumers to research local laws before purchasing CBD gummies or any other cannabis-related product.

Key Factors to Consider When Purchasing

When purchasing CBD gummies, there are key factors that consumers should consider to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations:

Source: Look for gummies made from hemp plants rather than marijuana plants since they contain lower levels of THC.

Lab Testing: Choose brands that provide third-party lab testing results to confirm the CBD content and ensure it meets legal requirements.

THC Content: Confirm that the gummies contain less than 0.3% THC, as mandated by federal regulations in many countries.

Product Labeling: Check for clear labeling that indicates the CBD content, THC content, and any other relevant information required by local laws.

Reputable Brands: Purchase from reputable brands with a track record of producing high-quality CBD products.

Staying Informed about Evolving Legislation

Given the ever-changing landscape of cannabis-related legislation, it’s crucial for consumers to stay informed about any updates or changes in their respective regions. This can be achieved through various means:

News Sources: Regularly check trusted news sources or websites that provide updates on cannabis-related laws and regulations.

Government Websites: Visit official government websites that provide information on local laws regarding CBD and cannabis products.

Industry Associations: Join industry associations or organizations dedicated to promoting accurate information about CBD and cannabis products.

By staying informed, consumers can make informed decisions when purchasing CBD gummies and ensure they are complying with local laws.
