What Happened Here? in News mode

What Happened Here? is a locative media application to be developed for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch in its first incarnation and for other GPS devices thereafter. What Happened Here? allows users to discover historic and current news events and upload personal stories related to a specific location, identified by a global positioning system. The application uses the augmented reality function of GPS-enabled devices to overlay a display of a location's map with the option of three modes of information for the user: News, History, and Your Story. With an iPhone, a user will see windows related to a location depending on which mode is selected. The News mode contains current stories from contributing newspaper databases. The History mode will have images and links to information from the past. In Your Story mode, users can read location-specific stories and see images from friends or strangers that have been posted on Facebook, Twitter, or added to the What Happened Here? database.
